How to Participate

Check the Book Rap Calendar for titles and dates.

      Select the book rap you wish to join from the calendar.

      Read the book.

      JOIN THE E-MAIL LIST FOR THE BOOK that you are interested in discussing.
      This is where the student mail will be sent. Avoid subscribing every student in your class. Group answers minimise the mail for all participants.

      You will receive a welcome message containing the instructions for participation.

Send a message of introduction with the name of the school, location and a little about the students.

Find a blank map of Australia or the World and copy it for the Book Rappers.

    When you start reading the introductory messages, mark the other schools on the Rap Map.


Wait for the first Rap Point. Respond to the Rap Point via the e-mail list for this book.
E-mail comments and questions about other students' responses to the Rap Point via the e-mail list for this book.

Join the teachers e-mail list
br-teachers@rite.ed.qut.edu.au for teachers.
Use this form or join by following the steps listed below use the mailer in Netscape or your regular mail program to join.
    • Send a message addressed to lyris@rite.ed.qut.edu.au
    • Leave the subject line blank.
    • Type the message
        subscribe br-teachers
        end
    • Later, when sending mail to the members of the list, address mail to

      br-teachers@rite.ed.qut.edu.au

    • This is where you can seek support and share ideas with other teachers. It is NOT for student mail.
How to Rap ( Directions for Students)
    • Read the book and talk about it with your friends.
    • Check the email on the advertised date for the first Rap Point message.
    • Read the Rap Point and prepare a response.
    • Mail your response to list.
    • Check the mail daily and read other Rappers responses.
    • Respond to other Rappers via the list.
    • Look out for more Rap Points on the advertised dates.
